1. Solid reliability - Lead-acid batteries are the weakest link in any power continuity system. A POWERTHRU flywheel can eliminate batteries and provide much greater reliability. They can also work in parallel with batteries as the first line of defense, taking all the brief hits and bridging the time gap to a smooth generator handoff. This eliminates cycling of the now redundant battery array.
2. Environmental responsibility/sustainability - Over its design life, each POWERTHRU flywheel you deploy will mitigate the mining, smelting, refining, transporting and eventual dumping of more than 15,000 pounds of virgin lead (UPS batteries never used recycled lead) and hundreds of gallons of sulfuric acid. Lead-acid battery emissions also contribute to global warming. POWERTHRU systems have no emissions.
3. Minimal footprint and weight - Compared to a 5-min. VRLA battery cabinet, a comparable capacity POWERTHRU flywheel needs only half the floorspace (or 1/5th that of wet cells). Each unit weighs only 1,300 lbs, about 1/4 that of batteries.
