What can POWERTHRU do for me? | POWERTHRU clean energy storage has a lot of great attributes and advantages.
We've found that the data centers and corporate IT facilities using our system particularly value these qualities:
- Solid reliability - Lead-acid batteries are the weakest link in any power continuity system. A POWERTHRU flywheel can eliminate batteries and provide much greater reliability. They can also work in parallel with batteries as the first line of defense, taking all the brief hits and bridging the time gap to a smooth generator handoff. This eliminates cycling of the now redundant battery array.
- Cost savings - POWERTHRU own-and-operate costs are much lower than those of batteries. Over time, each POWERTHRU system deployed saves $150,000 over VRLA batteries, even more if replacing wet cells.
- Minimal footprint and weight - Compared to a 5-min. VRLA battery cabinet, a comparable capacity POWERTHRU flywheel needs only half the floorspace (or 1/5 that of wet cells). Each unit weighs only 1,300 lbs, about 1/4 that of batteries. Without any floor-loading issues, you can roll it into position and install it directly on raised flooring.
- Highest availability, lowest maintenance – Batteries are the worst, but steel flywheels incur hours of downtime and tens of thousands of dollars in maintenance costs every 2-3 years. Rotary systems are even worse. But the POWERTHRU system's only moderate maintenance (capacitor replacement, just like that for your UPS) is just for one hour once every six years.
- Energy efficiency - Other flywheels consume 10 times the standby energy (and output 10 times the heat). That costs you thousands of dollars in higher utility bills every year for each cabinet deployed. Risky line-interactive "online" UPSs claim high efficiency under perfect utility conditions. But utility conditions are rarely perfect. So line-interactive UPSs must consume more energy trying to correct power quality issues. POWERTHRU flywheels work with the best brands of efficient, double-conversion UPSs that completely isolate protected loads from utility anomalies.
