What can a POWERTHRU system do for me? | POWERTHRU clean energy storage has a lot of great attributes and advantages.
We’ve found that broadcasters using our system particularly value these qualities:
- No HVAC needs - POWERTHRU systems need no HVAC, perfect for transmission sites. UPS batteries need air conditioned space – and plenty of it – to offset their heat production. Operating batteries just 10°F above optimum cuts their life in half.
- Crowbar protection - Crowbar circuits protect broadcast equipment inductive output tubes from power anomalies by instantly throwing tens of thousands of volts to ground. It has to. One IOT can cost nearly as much as a POWERTHRU flywheel. The massive crowbar inrush can kill lead-acid batteries in a flash, but the POWERTHRU flywheel has no trouble responding to such needs fully and repeatedly for decades.
- Near-zero maintenance - Driving up a mountain every few weeks to do battery maintenance, testing and replacement is no one’s idea of a good use of time and money. The POWERTHRU flywheel needs only one hour or less of maintenance every 2 years (usually done at the same time as annual UPS maintenance).
